Ideal manufacture some of the best boilers on the market. Boilers are one of the essential parts of any home and ensure the temperature within your property remains at a consistent level, keeping you warm throughout the cold winter months. When your boiler is not operating properly you can have problems with hot water supply or heating.
Ideal boilers contain an error code that identifies and details the fault. This error code will be identified by the control panel on your model of boiler.
On this page you will find all the different error or fault codes that your Ideal boiler may show. If your hot water isn’t at the right pressure, or if you are unable to turn on your heating, check the guide and try to solve it yourself.
If you have an Ideal Regular boiler and it has displayed a fault code there may be something wrong with the unit. These error codes can sometimes be hard to decipher – so we’ve provided a comprehensive guide for you to check against your own boiler to tell you exactly what the problem is. With this information you can contact your local engineer to fix it, or get some free quotes to compare direct from our website.
Fault Code | Possible Cause |
---|---|
C0 | Boiler chip card (BCC) activation fault |
C2 | Boiler chip card (BCC) fault |
F1 | Low water pressure |
F2 | Flame loss |
F3 | Fan fault |
F4 | Flow thermistor fault |
F5 | Return thermistor fault |
F6 | Outside sensor failure |
F7 | Low mains voltage |
F9 | Unconfigured printed circuit board (PCB) |
L1 | Flow temperature overheat or no water flow |
L2 | Flame loss |
L5 | 5 boiler resets in 15 minutes |
L6 | False flame lockout |
0 | The boiler is in standby mode awaiting either a central heating call or hot water demand |
C | The boiler has a call for central heating but the appliance has reached the desired temperature set on the boiler |
D | The boiler has a call for hot water but the appliance has reached the desired temperature set on the boiler |
C | The boiler is operating in central heating mode |
d | The boiler is operating in hot water mode |
F | The boiler is operating in frost mode |
If your Ideal Logic Max / Plus Regular Boiler is showing an error code on the screen then there’s a problem. If left unattended you could risk that problem becoming a major fault which makes your central heating system completely unusable. Luckily, we've created a list of all the error codes and what they mean below. Contacting a local engineer if one is listed in your area will allow them to diagnose and repair any issues quickly and correctly.
Fault Code | Possible Cause |
---|---|
L1 | Flow temperature overheat lockout or no water flow lockout |
L2 | Ignition lockout |
LC | 5 restarts within 15 minutes |
L6 | False flame lockout |
FA | Flow return reversed |
FD | No water flow |
F2 | Flame loss |
FN | Flame loss |
LN | Flame loss |
F3 | Fan fault |
L4 | Control / no flow thermistor fault |
F4 | Control / no flow thermistor fault |
L5 | Return thermistor fault |
F5 | Return thermistor fault |
F6 | Outside sensor fault |
F7 | Low mains voltage Contact electricity provider |
F9 | Printed circuit board (PCB) unconfigured or fault |
L9 | Printed circuit board (PCB) unconfigured or fault |
F8 | Printed circuit board (PCB) unconfigured or fault |
L8 | Printed circuit board (PCB) unconfigured or fault |
FU | Diff greater than 50c check isolation valves are open |
Fault codes in Ideal Logic Max Plus boilers are typically displayed via the display control board mounted on top of the boiler. This is usually found at the bottom left corner or top right corner - depending on which boiler type you have. If you can’t find your boiler control board, then it may be behind a panel door out of sight.
An error code on your boiler can not only be worrying, but also be a sign that your boiler is in need of some serious repairs and maintenance. In the list below we have detailed every single error code you could ever get on your Ideal Logic Max / Plus System Boiler, as well as what it means and what you should do.
