Save on new boiler installs!
The Boiler Scrappage Scheme in Scotland proved just as popular as its English and Welsh counterparts, and as a result the scheme has now closed. However you can still save a lot of money on a new boiler! All the allocated vouchers and funding were exhausted in a matter of months proving the popularity of this scheme, and the demand is still high to save money.
The scheme was introduced to raise awareness and interest in newer A-grade high-efficiency boilers, which converted some 30-40% more fuel to heat than older less efficient G-Grade boilers. It offered £400 cash back if you upgraded to a new boiler in an attempt to encourage energy efficiency.
The scheme’s funding was always limited, and because of the popularity that ensued, all of the vouchers have now been allocated, with the vast majority being converted into significant savings on a new boiler installation.
The Scottish Government however has introduced new funding for a Boiler Scrappage Scheme for private sector landlords in Scotland. This mirrors the original scheme by offering £400 of a high-efficiency boiler installation in rented properties. It was launched in November 2010, and you can find more information here: www.energysavingtrust.org.uk
If you’re looking to install a new boiler, but were hoping to be part of the Boiler Scrappage Scheme in Scotland, you don’t have to worry. There are stil huge savings to be made on your new boiler. Here are three of the best:
Still the most effective way to save a large amount of money on your new boiler is to compare boiler quotes from local, trusted boiler engineers. Since the scrappage scheme stopped, demand has continued at such a high level boiler fitters have responded by reducing prices considerably. This could mean an instant saving of hundreds of pounds!
The biggest problem is that most people don’t have the time to find local boiler fitters and request quotes, which is exactly why we started this free service providing impartial, obligation-free boiler quotes which all come with expert advice and guidance.
Although this option requires an initial outlay, there are some vast savings to be made year after year simply by upgrading your boiler. Older G-Grade boilers converted just 50-60% of fuel into heat which resulted in a lot of wasted fuel, however newer high-efficiency A-Grade boilers convert over 90% of fuel into heat.
Not only does this help with reduced harmful emissions, studies have shown that the average saving for a UK household is £200 every year on their heating bills! This coupled with getting a cheap boiler quote is a huge saving.
Once you have your new boiler, there’s a simple step that will help save you even more money on your heating bills.. lowering the temperature.
Your new boiler should be highly efficient and already saving you money, but did you know that by reducing the temperature by just one degree can save you up to 10% of you annual heating bill? Also, your water temperature shouldn’t be much higher than sixty degrees as otherwise it’s a waste of energy and therefore money. These two simple steps wil ensure your new boiler installation is as efficient as possible.
